I love brainstorming the perfect gift so I thought I’d share some of my best ideas for the people in your life. Everything on this list I’ve either purchased myself, received as a gift, or heroically sampled (see, the food list…) Happy gifting!
For the fashionable kid: Winter Water Factory and Lewis Home make my favorite prints for kids clothes — don’t miss the taxi shirt, dog pants, or alligator dress. Prepare for playground compliments! And Lewis’ newborn outfits are so beautiful for a new baby.
For the cozy person: Everyone fights over this Brooklinen wool throw blanket because it’s so warm. Haflinger slippers are classics — I have them in beige but this red color is so fun. Graf Lantz makes the best coasters. The Moccamaster is a splurge but it makes perfect coffee (and comes in so many colors).
For the gardener: Rubber Birkenstocks keep my feet dry and the Eley hose reel (rarely on sale) is a game changer. I also love this pop-up bag for weeding, classic Felco clippers and holder, this watering can for outdoors and this one for indoors. Fermob makes the coolest patio furniture (similar to the chairs in Paris).
For the little kids: The school bus is my daughter’s favorite and you can’t go wrong with a simple bouncy ball, Corolle baby doll or Jellycat bear. Donna Wilson stuffed animals are so interesting and cozy. Ostheimer wood animals and this mushroom purse are splurges but I’ll be honest I play with them too… Finally, a museum membership is the nicest gift for anyone with too much stuff already. In San Francisco, we love Cal Academy and Bay Area Discovery Museum.
For the cool friend: Personalized stationary is such a special gift and anything from Book/Shop is bound to be offbeat and interesting (hat, artwork). A Noguchi lamp doubles as both lamp and work of art. Baggu bags are always practical and I love their collabs with Herman Miller and Mara Hoffman. And Hawkins New York towels will bring a pop of color to their bathroom (I have them in pink).
For the food lover who lives far away: Roy panettone is famous for a reason. Order early! Inna Jam lets you assemble your own gift box of their different jam flavors. Jeni’s ice cream is always a hit and Tony’s Chocolonely could not be easier to send.
When you’re still stumped: An Airtag for their keys, scissors, a kitchen spoon, or package opener (practical, chic). This tire inflator makes inflating car or bike tires a breeze. A membership to their city’s art museum or a state park pass are great last-minute gifts. Upload photos from your phone and create a photo book (particularly sweet for grandparents). Flensted mobiles are not just for kids. This Block Shop wrapping paper printing kit is a lot of fun if you’re crafty.
Such wonderful curated lists!
